Professional Development

Professional Development is the continued process of improving and increasing capabilities of faculty/staff through access to education and training opportunities carried out through a variety of activities.

These professional development activities will provide added value for IGI employees through the following outcomes:

  • Enhancing skills and abilities,
  • providing increased job-related knowledge,
  • improving productivity and efficiency, and
  • preparing employees for higher-level positions.

Professional development activities can occur at Kennesaw State University but may also take place in a variety of other profit and non-profit entities outside KSU such as other universities, education service agencies, technical assistance providers, networks of content-area specialists, and other professional organizations and associations.

Activities may include but are not limited to:

  • domestic and international travel,
  • conferences and symposiums,
  • courses and workshops,
  • research and scholarly activity, and
  • collaborations and partnerships.

All requests for professional development funding should benefit not only the individual, but should also support the Institute for Global Initiative’s goals for internationalization.
