Expert on International Education to Skype with KSU
August 27, 2014
KSU will virtually welcome Dr. Darla Deardorff to campus on Tuesday Sept. 2 as she leads a Skype discussion on enhancing intercultural education.
The event, called Design and Assessment of Intercultural Learning, will include a presentation on integrating intercultural competence into the classroom followed by an open forum discussion.
Dr. Deardoff will be leading the presentation and discussion. She is Executive Director of the Association of International Education Administration at Duke University. Dr. Deardroff has been published widely on the topics of International education, global leadership, and intercultural learning/assessment. Her expertise will help KSU faculty members evaluate and improve their own offerings.
This program – and its use of digital technology to foster discussion – is part of KSU’s Interdisciplinary Teaching and Assessment of Intercultural Competence Project. The project’s goal is to improve intercultural competence among KSU students, with funding coming from a Strategic Internationalization Grant award.
Both events take place Sept. 2, 2014 in Burruss Building 369. The Skype presentation runs from 9:30-10:45, while the Skype discussion runs from 11am-12:15.
