Tolerance - Understanding - Coexistence Photos
A highlight of each "Year Of" program is the international conference. For the Year
of the Arabian Peninsula, the event was titled "Women of Oman: Changing Roles and
Transnational Influence," and focused on the progress made by Omani women since Sultan
Qaboos took came to power in the 1970s. Guests included the first Omani women to reach
a ministerial rank, and the first woman to represent an Arab country as an ambassador.

Religious freedom is a core value for the people of Oman. Throughout October 2014,
the exhibit "Tolerance - Understanding - Coexistence: Oman's Message of Islam" was
on display in the Social Sciences Atrium. The exhibit came to Kennesaw thanks to the
efforts of Oman's Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs, and has appeared in
Brazil, Germany, and Spain.
