International Education Week at KSU

IEW logo inverseKennesaw State University celebrates international education and exchange worldwide by participating in International Education Week (IEW) which takes place Nov. 18 - 22, 2019. The joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of an effort to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences.

Monday, November 18

  • Parade of Flags
    2 p.m. in Carmichael Student Center University Room A, Campus Green
    Hosted by the KSU Division of Student Affairs Global Village, this kick off event will be a spectacular parade of world flags to celebrate the diversity and international presence at KSU.
  • General Info Session on Education Abroad
    11 a.m. in the J.M. Wilson Student Center Room A216
    Where will your education take you? Join the Education Abroad Office at KSU as they discuss general information about studying abroad during your univerisity career.

  • German Culture Day
    10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in the Carmichael Student Center University Rooms A and B
    Join the KSU Global Village as the celebrate Germany. Enjoy traditional accordion music, German chocolate, German Fair, and German presentations.
  • Latin America Fair and Zumba Class
    2 - 5:30 p.m. in Carmichael Student Center University Rooms A and B
    Join the Global Village as they celebrate IEW in partnership with Latin American Consulates in Atlanta. FOOD, CULTURAL PERFORMANCES, AND MUSIC!
  • K-Pop Festival and Dinner
    6 - 9 p.m. in the Carmichael Student Center University Rooms A and B
    Celebrate Korean Pop (K-Pop) music during this fun-filled dinner/festival.

  • How to Market Your Global Experiences to Future Employers: A United Nations Approach

    Join speaker Vivian Kirby, KSU Senior Lecturer of Economics, as she covers entrepreneurship in Cuba today.
  • IEW Sip'n'Paint
    10 a.m. in the Carmichael Student Center Rooms
    Tap into your artistic self! Stop by the University Rooms to make a painting representing your country or culture. Your work will be displayed in the Student Center for International Education Week. Painting tips will be shared by a College of the Arts professor from Egypt, and drinks and snacks will be provided!
  • Taste of Africa and Talent Show
    3 - 5 p.m. in University Rooms B, C and D
    Enjoy African snacks, listen to music, and support students as they share their talents. The talent show will begin at 3 p.m.
  • Information Session for Study Abroad in Europe
    6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in English Building (EB168)
    If you want to learn more about study abroad in Europe, don't miss this info session. Learn about various study abroad programs to Europe in 2020 sponsored by the University System of Georgia Goes Global programs and the European Council. You, your family and friends are invited to attend and learn more about these programs and the supporting resources from KSU Global Affairs and the Global Learning Scholarship.

  • Scholarships for Education Abroad Workshop

    Think international education is out of your reach? Join Dr. Michelle Miles, Director of National and International Scholarships and Fellowships, for an informational scholarship workshop. Dr. Miles will cover all the ways that KSU students can find, apply and move forward with international scholarships and fellowships.

    Enjoy South Asian snacks, cultural performances, Arabic calligraphy, and henna body art.
  • Asian Festival
    1 - 4:30 p.m. Carmichael Student Center University Rooms B, C & D
    Celebrate Asian culture by learning Japanese, Chinese, and Korean languages, enjoying asian snacks, watching cultural presentations and watching Taekwondo demonstrations.
  • Cruise the World: South Korea
    7 p.m. in the Marietta Student Center Ballrooms
    KSU's International Student Association invites you to learn more about the culture and heritage of South Korea as part of their "Cruise the World" series.

Friday, November 22

  • Passport Day at KSU
    10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Education Abroad Office Town Point Suite 1700
    The ever popular Passport Day returns to KSU on November 22. Whether you need a brand new passport, need to renew your passport, or have general questions about passports, the Atlanta Passport Agency will be on campus to support all of your needs. This event is open to all KSU students, faculty and staff.
